Egypt appoints new leadership for key economic zones

Egypt has announced new leadership appointments for two of its key economic zones. Mostafa Sheikhoun has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) following a presidential decree by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly witnessed the formal handover from outgoing chairperson Waleid Gamal El-Din. The government aims to utilize SCZONE’s strategic location to attract global investment in logistics, industry, and supply chain services.

Additionally, President Al-Sisi appointed Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Ibrahim as the chairman of the General Authority for the Golden Triangle Economic Zone for a one-year term. Ibrahim, who previously served as vice chairman, will oversee development in the region spanning Upper Egypt and the Red Sea. The authority’s strategy focuses on developing value chains for mineral resources, establishing integrated industrial zones, and strengthening links to Red Sea ports to drive industrial localization and export growth.
