Egypt Armed Forces Day holiday scheduled for October 6, 2026

The upcoming Armed Forces Day holiday in Egypt, commemorating the October 1973 war victories, is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6, 2026. While there is public speculation regarding whether the holiday will be moved to Thursday, October 8, to create an extended weekend, no official government decision has been issued to that effect.

For employees following a Friday-Saturday weekend schedule, October is expected to be the month with the highest number of rest days, totaling 11 days when combining the official holiday with weekly rest days.

Public sector employees, including those in ministries and local administration, are entitled to paid leave for this occasion. Private sector employees are subject to labor laws and Ministry of Labor regulations, which may allow employers to require work in exchange for alternative compensation or days off depending on specific circumstances.
