Egypt authorities detain man for fatal strangulation in Shibin al-Qanater

Authorities in Shibin al-Qanater, Qalyubia, have detained a 45-year-old man, identified as ‘E.A.’, in connection with the murder of a young woman. The suspect, a resident of the Sharqia Governorate, is accused of intercepting the victim while she was walking at night in the village of Al-Ahraz.

According to investigations, the suspect forcibly led the victim into an agricultural area. Despite her attempts to resist and call for help from nearby residents, the assailant allegedly strangled her to death. Security forces located the body in the farmland and subsequently tracked down and arrested the suspect.

Forensic examinations indicated that while the victim's clothing was intact and no obvious external injuries were present, there were marks on her face consistent with strangulation. The prosecution has ordered the suspect to remain in custody pending further investigation and has requested a forensic autopsy to confirm the exact cause of death.
