Egypt Aviation Minister announces expansion and fleet upgrades

Egypt's Minister of Civil Aviation, Sameh el-Hefny, has outlined strategic plans for the nation's aviation sector, emphasizing integration between EgyptAir and Air Cairo. EgyptAir currently holds approximately 60% of the shares in Air Cairo. To enhance operational efficiency and network planning, the ministry has contracted Sabre Corporation as an expert to redesign the aviation network.

Air Cairo has recently engaged in its largest-ever deal to purchase 30 aircraft to support its expansion capabilities. Additionally, EgyptAir has achieved significant international recognition, being ranked among the top 50 airlines globally by Skytrax for 2026, specifically noted as one of the world's most improved airlines.

The Minister also addressed the management of airports, clarifying that involving the private sector in airport management does not equate to the sale of state assets. These developments follow Egypt's participation in the Alamein International Airshow 2026, which aimed to showcase the country's growing capabilities in the aviation and space sectors.
