Egypt advanced to the round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Australia in a penalty shoot‑out 4‑2. The round‑of‑32 match was played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on 4 July 2026 and ended 1‑1 after extra time.
