Egypt begins trial operations for second phase of BRT system

The Egyptian BRT Company has announced the commencement of trial operations for the second phase of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, starting Saturday, September 19. This trial phase is conducted without public passengers to allow for technical and operational testing of the stations and equipment.

The second phase includes 14 stations, spanning from Sokhna Road through several key areas and axes, including Maadi, Mokattam, Autostrad, Al-Imamayn, Al-Bahr Al-Aazam, Omraneya, and ending at Sun Capital. The initiative follows directives from the Ministry of Transport to expand green and sustainable mass transit systems and reduce traffic congestion.

A formal announcement regarding the official launch date and the commencement of passenger services will be made following the completion of these necessary technical preparations and tests.
