Egypt boosts public investment in health facilities and education infrastructure

The Central Bank of Egypt, represented by Governor Hassan Abdullah, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, led by Minister Abdel Aziz Qansowa, inaugurated new medical units at the National Cancer Institute in Cairo. The expansions include a bone‑marrow transplant unit and a hematology department designed to serve about 400 patients annually, as well as an outpatient complex that can handle roughly 1,500 patients each day.

In the education sector, the 2026/2027 state budget earmarks 20.1 billion Egyptian pounds for pre‑university schooling. The plan calls for the construction of 13,000 new classrooms, the upgrading of 1,600 schools, and the establishment of new specialized institutions such as Japanese‑Egyptian schools and technology‑focused technical schools. It also includes provision of 1.2 million tablet computers for first‑year secondary students and the creation of 10 new applied‑technology schools, aiming to reduce class sizes and improve educational outcomes nationwide.
