Egypt calls for Gaza reconstruction and expands digital consular services
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has advocated for accelerated reconstruction and humanitarian aid access in the Gaza Strip during high-level meetings in New York. Co-presiding a roundtable with Germany, France, and the European Commission, Abdelatty emphasized the need to transition from emergency humanitarian responses to early recovery efforts while supporting Palestinian institutions.
Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's rejection of any plans for the forced displacement of Palestinians and expressed support for implementing the U.S. peace plan for Gaza. He also highlighted the importance of UN Security Council Resolution 2803.
On the domestic front, Abdelatty announced that Egypt is expanding its digital consular services to simplify procedures for citizens living abroad. He also stated that the government aims to increase the presence of Egyptian professionals within the United Nations and other multilateral institutions to leverage their expertise for national development.
