Egypt calls for regional early-warning system to protect security

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has called for the establishment of a regional early-warning and rapid-response system to prevent crises rather than merely managing them after they erupt. Speaking at the 22nd Manama Dialogue in Bahrain, Abdelatty emphasized that Gulf security is an integral component of Egypt’s national security.

Abdelatty warned that escalating military confrontations in the region could threaten international stability and disrupt global food and energy supply chains, maritime navigation, and financial markets. He advocated for a security framework based on the rule of law, non-interference in internal affairs, and shared regional responsibility.

Regarding the Palestinian issue, the Foreign Minister stated that lasting stability requires a settlement based on the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He also reiterated Egypt's rejection of Palestinian displacement, annexation, and settlement activities.
