Egypt celebrates Wafaa El Nil festival to honor the Nile River

Egypt is celebrating ‘Wafaa El Nil’ (the Nile’s Loyalty Festival), an ancient tradition honoring the Nile River’s historical, economic, and cultural role in building Egyptian civilization.

Hani Sewilam, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, stated that the occasion serves as a reminder of the enduring relationship between the Egyptian people and the river. He emphasized that managing water resources is a national responsibility essential for sustainable development and protecting the rights of future generations.

To address modern challenges such as population growth, climate change, and increasing water demand, the Egyptian state is implementing advanced policies. These include the ‘Water System 2.0’ initiative, which aims to maximize water efficiency through integrated projects and innovative management strategies.
