Egypt commodity markets report stable fuel and shifting food prices
Market reports from August 2026 indicate fluctuations in essential commodity prices in Egypt. Fuel prices have remained stable, with gasoline 95 at 24 EGP per liter, gasoline 92 at 22.25 EGP, and gasoline 80 at 20.75 EGP. Diesel remains steady at 20.50 EGP per liter. Domestic gas cylinders are priced at 275 EGP for 12.5 kg and 550 EGP for 25 kg.
In the food sector, several staples have seen price increases. Egg prices rose, particularly for local varieties, with a carton of local eggs reaching approximately 130.05 EGP. Other rising costs include sunflower oil, sugar, flour, rice, and various types of tea. Conversely, some items like packaged pasta and lentils have experienced price decreases.
