Egypt delivers 20 electric buses for Cairo BRT system

Egypt's Minister of Local Development and Environment, Manal Awad, has announced the delivery of 20 electric buses to the Ministry of Transport. These vehicles are designated for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system operating on the Ring Road.

Developed in cooperation with MCV, the initiative is part of the ‘Air Pollution Management and Climate Change in Greater Cairo’ project, which is funded by the World Bank. The project aims to modernize public transportation, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and improve air quality by lowering emissions.

In addition to providing the vehicles, the project includes technical capacity building. Specialized training programs will be conducted in collaboration with MCV to ensure the sustainable operation and maintenance of the new electric technology.
