Egypt Deputy Health Minister investigates Giza hospital deficiencies

Dr. Amr Kandil, Deputy Minister of Health and Population, conducted an extensive inspection tour of several health facilities in the Giza Governorate to evaluate medical service quality and resource availability.

At Al-Ayat Central Hospital, the Deputy Minister identified several issues, including overcrowding, delays in medication dispensing, a lack of radiology doctors, and shortages of certain blood types. Due to the hospital administration having implemented only 20% of recommendations from a previous visit, the director of Al-Ayat Central Hospital has been referred for investigation. Additional concerns noted included poor hygiene standards and unprofessional conduct by security personnel.

During the tour, Kandil also visited the Al-Fahmiyin Family Medicine Center, where he found no doctors present, leading to the referral of the responsible physician for investigation. While Al-Saff Central Hospital received praise for its emergency and intensive care readiness, shortages in orthopedic and radiology specialists were also noted.
