Egypt doctors' syndicate presses health minister to announce 2026 recruitment results
The General Syndicate of Physicians in Egypt, led by Dr. Khalid Abdelghafar, sent an urgent letter to the Minister of Health and Population demanding the immediate publication of the results of the 2026 basic doctors’ recruitment (niyabat) movement. The syndicate highlighted that the application window closed on 7 June 2026 and that the unprecedented delay has created anxiety among thousands of doctors awaiting placement, fellowship opportunities, and the start of their training and professional tracks.
Dr. Ahmed El‑Sayed, coordinator of the syndicate’s Youth Committee, warned that the continued postponement threatens the regularity of the doctors’ career path and could disrupt service delivery in health institutions. The syndicate noted that repeated contacts with the authorities responsible for the recruitment have not yielded an explanation or a timetable, and called for rapid ministerial directives to release the pending results and to enforce timely processing of future recruitment and assignment cycles as per established ministry schedules.
