Egypt Drug Addiction Fund launches awareness campaigns in universities
The Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Substance Abuse is conducting intensive awareness programs and activities across various Egyptian universities and higher institutes. The initiative aims to increase student awareness regarding the dangers of drug use and addiction, while correcting misconceptions related to substance abuse.
Participating institutions include universities in Kafr El-Sheikh, the Capital, Alexandria, Cairo, Ain Shams, Qena, Sohag, Zagazig, and Port Said. The programs feature cultural seminars led by volunteers that highlight the physical, psychological, and social damages caused by drugs, as well as their negative impact on academic achievement.
In addition to educational seminars, the Fund is organizing sports, cultural, and recreational activities on campuses to encourage healthy lifestyles. A key component of the campaign is the “See it before you try it, live it” initiative, which utilizes virtual reality (VR) technology. This technology allows students to experience a realistic simulation of the risks and deterioration associated with drug addiction, from initial use to severe health and social decline.
