Egypt economy grows 5.1% in 2025-2026 fiscal year

The Egyptian economy achieved a growth rate of 5.1% during the 2025-2026 fiscal year, according to Matta Bishay, head of the Internal Trade and Supply Committee of the Importers' General Division at the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce.

This represents an increase from the 4.4% growth rate recorded in the previous fiscal year. Bishay noted that the economy recorded a 4.7% growth rate in the fourth quarter of the 2025-2026 fiscal year, suggesting sustained economic activity rather than a temporary improvement. He stated that these results exceed the more conservative estimates provided by several international institutions, demonstrating the economy's resilience against regional and global tensions and uncertainties.

Bishay emphasized that maintaining this growth requires increasing the contribution of productive sectors, improving the business environment, and providing more facilities for companies. He also highlighted the importance of internal trade in the economic cycle and called for efforts to regulate markets and improve supply chain efficiency.
