Egypt education and EdTech sector report reveals growth opportunities and funding gaps
EdVentures, Nahdet Misr Group, and Enjaz have released the ‘Egypt Education and EdTech Landscape 2026’ report, providing a comprehensive analysis of the nation's educational sector and investment potential.
With over 23 million pre-university students and 3.8 million higher education students, Egypt represents one of the largest education markets in the Middle East and Africa. However, the report highlights a significant disconnect between market potential and available capital. While there are approximately 234 active EdTech companies in Egypt, 88% have not secured external funding, with total venture capital investment in the sector reaching only $13.2 million over the last decade.
The study also identifies a gap between educational outcomes and labor market needs, noting that 28% of post-secondary graduates are unemployed, and 45% of employed graduates work in roles below their qualification levels. To address these issues, the report offers seven key recommendations, including improving digital education governance, enhancing data systems, expanding funding opportunities, and strengthening the link between education and employment.
