Egypt Education Minister meets with 4,500 principals to prepare for new school year

Egypt's Minister of Education and Technical Education, Mohamed Abdel Latif, held an extensive meeting with approximately 4,500 school principals and educational directors from 21 governorates to prepare for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The discussions focused on school readiness, addressing student density issues, and filling teacher shortages. A key announcement included the increase of actual school days to 183 days, up from the previous 116 days, to align with international educational standards and ensure sufficient hours for curriculum coverage.

Abdel Latif emphasized that school administrators and teachers are essential partners in decision-making, stating that the ministry aims to build educational policies based on field experience and the practical realities faced within classrooms.
