Egypt Electricity Transmission Company signs transformer supply contract

The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company has signed a contract with Elsewedy Electric to supply and install three power transformers, each with a capacity of 175 MVA. The project, which includes supervision and testing, will be implemented at the Sadat and Tahrir Badr main transformer stations in the Alexandria and West Delta electricity regions. The contract is expected to be completed within 10 months.

This initiative aims to strengthen the national unified grid, accommodate increasing electricity demand, and enhance grid stability. It also supports the integration of new renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, into the national network.

In a separate strategic meeting, Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mahmoud Esmat, reviewed the sector's performance and the successful management of electricity loads during the recent summer season. Discussions focused on the national energy strategy, energy efficiency in residential and industrial sectors, and the implementation of battery energy storage technology to ensure a sustainable and continuous power supply.
