Egypt expands medical services while shutting illegal clinics

The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population ordered the closure and sealing of two unlicensed medical centres in Matrouh and Beni Suef after a patient complaint led to the discovery of individuals impersonating doctors. Authorities seized the facilities, detained the impostors and filed legal reports for falsifying professional credentials.

At the same time, Kafr Shiekh University is preparing to inaugurate the largest medical complex in the Delta region. The project includes an emergency hospital and a children’s hospital with a total capacity of 690 beds, an oncology centre, a dialysis unit and a large outpatient clinic housing 48 specialised departments. The new facilities are intended to serve Kafr Shiekh and the surrounding governorates, reducing the need for patients to travel for advanced care.
