Egypt expands use of EM microbial technology for waste and agriculture

Egypt’s Minister of Local Development and Environment, Manal Awad, met with the working team of the EM substance production and marketing project to discuss expanding its environmental and agricultural applications. The project is a collaborative effort between the Egyptian Ministry and the Japanese research organization EMRO, which has been active in Egypt since 2002.

The EM substance utilizes beneficial microorganisms for various sectors, including agriculture, industry, tourism, and environmental protection. Key practical applications in Egypt include wastewater treatment, industrial sewage management, waste management, and improving soil and water quality, as well as supporting fish farming.

Minister Awad emphasized the need to transition from the experimental phase to a clear vision for large-scale production and marketing. She directed the development of an integrated plan to raise public awareness through media and social platforms and stressed the importance of providing trained technical labor to handle production and application processes.
