Egypt exports 190,000 tons of food products in one week

The National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) reported that Egypt exported 190,000 tons of food products across 4,333 shipments between October 3 and October 9, 2026. These exports, involving 1,454 companies and 770 different product types, reached 163 countries. Saudi Arabia and Sudan were the top importers, followed by Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and the Netherlands.

Key export commodities included 51,000 tons of vegetables—led by potatoes, onions, and beans—and 30,000 tons of fruit, with pomegranate, strawberry, and mango being the primary items. On the import side, Egypt received 235,000 tons of food products from 84 countries, with Russia being the leading exporter, followed by the United States, Ukraine, Indonesia, and Canada.

In addition to trade activities, the NFSA intensified regulatory inspections across various governorates. Authorities seized and destroyed significant quantities of expired or unsafe food, including over 10 tons of spoiled frozen strawberries and mangoes in Ismailia, and various quantities of expired liver, supplements, and meat in Gharbia and Monufia. The agency also conducted over 100 factory inspections and 1,428 inspections of agricultural products prepared for export.
