Egypt extends scholarship deadline and announces 2026-2027 academic calendar

The Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in collaboration with the Central Bank of Egypt, has extended the application deadline for the ‘Future Scholars’ scholarship for the 2026/2027 academic year. The new deadline is 7:00 PM on Friday, September 4, 2026.

The scholarship targets high-achieving high school students from government schools who are beneficiaries of the ‘Takaful and Karama’ initiative or those exempted from fees by the Ministry of Education. It provides full coverage for tuition, accommodation, and living expenses in participating national universities for scientific disciplines such as medicine, engineering, and computer science.

Regarding the 2026-2027 academic calendar, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education has announced that the school year will begin on September 12, 2026, for schools operating on Saturdays, and September 13, 2026, for those starting on Sundays. International schools are scheduled to begin on September 6, 2026. The first semester will consist of 93 actual study days, with mid-year holidays scheduled from January 23 to February 4, 2027.
