Egypt prepares for World Cup 2026 round‑of‑32 clash with Australia

The Egyptian national football team qualified for the round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup – its first appearance in the knockout phase – after a 1‑1 draw with Iran secured second place in Group 7. Coach Hossam Hassan praised the squad’s fighting spirit and said the team “will fight until the last breath”. Goalkeeper Mustafa Shobair was highlighted for his performance, conceding only three goals in three group matches and topping statistical rankings for saves and ball distribution.

Medical reports revealed that captain Mohamed Salah suffered a thigh strain during the Iran match and will be reassessed before the upcoming game. Defender Ahmed Fattouh also missed the next match with a torn muscle, while midfielder Mohamed Abdel‑Moneim sustained an ankle bruise. Hassan described Salah’s injury as “not serious” and said doctors will provide a full evaluation.

Egypt’s round‑of‑32 match against Australia is set for 3 July at Dallas, Texas, and will be broadcast in the Arab region on beIN Sports Max. The team aims to continue its historic run and advance further in the tournament.
