Egypt Higher Education Minister Chairs Private Institutes Council

Egypt's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdulaziz Qansuwa (acting), chaired the regular meeting of the Supreme Council for Private Higher Institutes at the Private Education building in New Cairo. The session was attended by Dr. Ahmed Al‑Giyushi, acting head of the education sector, council members and ministry officials.

The council reviewed the performance of private institutes, stressing the need to update curricula to match labour‑market demands, enforce quality and accreditation standards, adopt digital transformation and strengthen industry partnerships. An evaluation of institute merit will guide the development of action plans. The ministers called for completion of laboratory and facility maintenance before the 2026/2027 academic year. Statistics presented included 182 private institutes (155 single‑discipline, 27 multi‑discipline), 24 holding institutional accreditation and 28 holding programme accreditation for 94 programmes in the past five years, serving 903,187 students. The ministry also reported recent legal actions against fraudulent entities.
