Egypt Industrial Committee targets technology and machinery localization
Mustafa El-Behy, the newly elected Secretary of the Industrial Committee in the Egyptian House of Representatives, has announced a strategic shift in Egypt's industrial policy. The new agenda aims to move beyond the localization of finished products toward the localization of technology and production tools themselves.
The initiative focuses on developing the domestic manufacturing of machinery, molds, and dies, while supporting robotic and technological industries. El-Behy emphasized the importance of increasing local depth in production chains to reduce reliance on importing production lines and equipment.
A key component of this roadmap includes prioritizing the manufacturing of CNC machines, laser machines, injection and molding machines, and industrial automation equipment. The plan also seeks to attract investment for critical components such as industrial control systems, motors, servos, and PLC systems. To support this transition, the committee intends to link industrial needs with universities, research centers, and technical education to foster a complete industrial path from research and development to global supply chain participation.
