Egypt installs reactor pressure vessel for unit 2 at Dabaa nuclear plant

Egypt’s Dabaa nuclear power plant saw the installation of the reactor pressure vessel for its second unit during a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly, Energy Minister Mahmoud Assem and senior officials. The step marks a key milestone in completing the plant, which is intended to diversify Egypt’s electricity supply, support the country’s 2030 sustainable‑development goals and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

Parliamentarians highlighted the project’s strategic importance, noting the transfer of technical expertise from Russian partners and the involvement of Egyptian firms in component manufacturing. The plant is expected to contribute significantly to national energy security and to Egypt’s regional standing in peaceful nuclear technology.
