Egypt issues high-risk warning over recall of six pharmaceutical batches

The Egyptian Center for the Right to Drugs has issued a high-risk warning following decisions by the Egyptian Drug Authority to withdraw six pharmaceutical batches from the market. The recall was initiated because the products failed to meet specifications established by the authority’s laboratories.

The warning includes several products from companies such as Eva, Cheroniver, Remisan, Rameda, and Mash. Notably, the eye drop Appavisc HVPFS (batch AVH-051-E) has been classified as Class I, a high-risk category requiring urgent seizure and removal from circulation to prevent potential harm to patient vision.

Other affected products include Vilaphoria 40 mg tablets (batch 254227), Cymbatex 20 mg capsules (batch 2508434), Elbapisan lotion (batch 1257), and Karbalta Hard Gelatin capsules in 30 mg and 60 mg concentrations (batches 1133725 and M1133825).

The Center has called on pharmacists and citizens to immediately check batch numbers and contact official hotlines if these products are found. The Center also raised questions regarding the effectiveness of regulatory oversight and whether inspections are occurring sufficiently before products reach the market.
