Egypt begins first phase of electronic university admission coordination for 2026/27
Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research opened the first phase of the electronic university admission system (Tansik) on 5 August 2026, scheduled to run until 9 August 2026. Students from both the modern and old secondary‑school systems register their university and institute preferences through the official Tansik website, with the option to edit choices 24 hours a day. By the reporting date, about 29 000 candidates had entered their preferences, while the Ministry’s target for the phase is 94 865 students (94 767 from the modern system and 98 from the old system). Minimum scores required for the modern system are 292 points for the scientific‑science stream (91.25 % of candidates), 275.5 points for scientific‑math (86.09 %), and 229 points for the literary stream (71.56 %). For the old system, the thresholds are 369 points (science, 90 %), 347 points (math, 84.63 %) and 270 points (literature, 65.85 %). Free technical assistance is provided at university computer labs from 9:00 to 15:00 each day, and the Ministry continues to publish guidance videos, infographics and official notices to help students avoid misinformation.
The Ministry’s spokesperson Dr Adel Abdel Ghaffar emphasized that students should verify information only on the official Ministry and Tansik websites and follow the published deadlines. Additional officials, including Dr Ahmed Al‑Jiyoshi, underscored the importance of selecting programmes that match students’ interests and labour‑market needs.
