Egypt launches digital real estate tax application

The Egyptian Ministry of Finance has launched a new mobile application to digitize real estate tax services. The platform has already surpassed one million voluntary registrations, facilitating easier property documentation and tax management for citizens.

Under the direction of Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, the digital system aims to increase transparency and efficiency. Users can register property units, upload ownership documents, and track application statuses remotely, reducing the need for physical visits to government offices.

In conjunction with this digital shift, the Egyptian Tax Authority has introduced several concessions regarding real estate disposal taxes. These include full exemptions for property transfers between spouses, parents, and children. Additionally, the deadline for tax payment has been extended from 30 to 60 days from the date of the transaction.

The disposal tax is set at 2.5% of the total contract value, with the seller legally responsible for the payment. The new system also allows Egyptians living abroad to access these services and settle payments electronically via bank cards or direct debit through the mobile application.
