Egypt launches educational promotion mission in Nigeria

Egypt has launched a specialized promotional mission in Nigeria under the slogan ‘Study in Egypt’ to attract international students and expand its higher education service exports. The week-long campaign, held from August 24 to August 30, 2026, centered its activities in Lagos to showcase Egyptian academic programs and universities to Nigerian students and stakeholders.

The initiative is a collaborative effort supervised by Egypt’s ministries of investment and higher education, involving several organizations including the Supreme Council of Universities and the Egyptian General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences. Alaa El-Baily, chairman of the exhibitions authority, stated the mission aims to establish direct communication between Egyptian universities and Nigerian educational institutions.

Dr. Mohamed Farid, Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, emphasized that education is a vital economic asset and a promising area for service exports. The campaign seeks to increase awareness of the Egyptian higher education system within African markets to strengthen economic and soft power ties.
