Egypt launches high‑school exams for 921,000 students

The Egyptian Ministry of Education announced that about 921,000 candidates will sit the national secondary school examinations this year. Three thousand of them will follow the old system after previous failures. The first week will cover non‑graded subjects, with questions limited to multiple‑choice items. In the second week, core subjects that count toward the final score will be tested, featuring a paper composed of 15 % essay questions and 85 % multiple‑choice questions, as stipulated by the ministry’s specifications. Security and organisational measures have been reinforced to ensure orderly conduct of the exams across all examination centres.

These arrangements continue the existing evaluation framework, which emphasizes objective testing while introducing a modest proportion of written responses to assess analytical skills.
