Egypt launches national livestock vaccination campaign

The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation has launched a national campaign to vaccinate cattle against lumpy skin disease and sheep against small ruminant plague. The initiative, implemented through the General Organization for Veterinary Services and veterinary medicine directorates, covers all governorates across the country.

Directed by Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk, the campaign aims to protect livestock wealth, prevent epidemic diseases, and reduce economic losses for breeders. Dr. Mohamed Saad, head of the General Organization for Veterinary Services, emphasized the importance of coordinating between central preventive medicine administrations and local directorates to ensure the availability of vaccines and technical compliance.

Authorities are urging breeders to cooperate with vaccination committees and follow biosecurity measures, such as controlling insect vectors and reporting suspicious symptoms immediately. To facilitate the process, a hotline (19561) has been established for inquiries regarding vaccination schedules and locations.
