Egypt launches national measles and rubella vaccination campaign

Egypt is preparing for a national vaccination campaign against measles and rubella. In Alexandria, the Alexandria Media Complex, in collaboration with the Canal Martyrs Charity Association, held an awareness seminar to educate the public on the importance of the campaign. Health officials emphasized the necessity of increasing community immunity, particularly as the new school year begins, and highlighted the risks of rubella for pregnant women.

In the Qalyubia Governorate, authorities have raised readiness levels for the upcoming campaign, which is scheduled to run for three weeks starting in October. The initiative aims to vaccinate all children, both Egyptian and non-Egyptian, aged 9 months to 10 years. In Qalyubia alone, approximately 1.2 million children are targeted through 743 vaccination teams. The campaign will utilize schools, youth centers, and local units to reach children in remote areas and unplanned residential clusters.
