Egypt launches summer discount season 2026 under Minister Sherif Farouk

Minister Sherif Farouk, head of Egypt's Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, issued Ministerial Decree No. 142/2026 to start the second seasonal clearance – the summer discount season – on Monday, 3 August 2026. The programme will run for one month, with each participating shop allowed a two‑week discount period.

The decree requires retailers to obtain prior approval from the relevant supply‑trade directorates and to display clear price listings before and after the discount. The ministry said the initiative is intended to stimulate internal trade, support markets and give consumers real price reductions across all retail sectors, not only clothing. It also pledged intensified monitoring to ensure advertised discounts are genuine, to check product quality and to take legal action against misleading practices. Consumers are urged to verify posted prices, keep purchase receipts and report any false offers.
