Egypt launches Wave 30 to remove illegal land encroachments
Egypt's Minister of Local Development and Environment, Manal Awad, has announced the launch of 'Wave 30' to remove illegal encroachments on state-owned lands, unauthorized spatial changes, and illegal construction on agricultural lands. The operation is scheduled to take place in three stages from August 29, 2026, to November 20, 2026.
The initiative is being conducted in coordination with the State Land Recovery Committee, chaired by Lieutenant General Osama Askar, the Presidential Advisor for Military Affairs. The implementation involves multiple entities, including the Egyptian Armed Forces' Operations Authority, the Military Survey Department, and the Ministry of Interior.
A new information platform has been developed in coordination with the Military Survey Department to record daily enforcement results. This platform will be linked to existing systems for land legalization, spatial monitoring, and reconciliation processes. Minister Awad emphasized the need for strict coordination between governorates and security directorates to ensure effective enforcement and real-time monitoring through the National Emergency and Public Safety Network.
