Egypt Minister of Higher Education chairs Sohag National University Board meeting

Dr. Abdelaziz Qansoua, Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, chaired the inaugural procedural session for the Board of Trustees of Sohag National University. The meeting, held at the ministry headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, focused on developing the university as a model for innovation and knowledge-based economics.

During the session, Ambassador Nabila Makram Abdel Shahid, former Minister of State for Emigration, was appointed Chairperson of the Board, with Dr. Lotfi Hamed Abu Deheb serving as Vice Chairperson. The board includes a diverse group of experts, such as Hassan Hassan, acting governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, and various leaders from industry, media, and academia.

The Minister emphasized that Sohag National University should serve as an extension of Sohag University, utilizing interdisciplinary programs and modern technology to support sustainable development goals and Egypt’s Vision 2030. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial needs, particularly in Upper Egypt.
