Egypt Ministry of Agriculture approves 80 million EGP for National Veal Project

The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation has approved new funding of over 80 million Egyptian pounds for the National Veal Project. Chaired by Minister Alaa Farouk, the board approved 80,885,000 EGP to support small-scale breeders and young graduates in raising and fattening 1,148 head of cattle.

This initiative is part of the presidential ‘Decent Life’ (Hayah Karima) program aimed at developing rural Egypt and improving living standards. The project seeks to bolster food security by increasing the local supply of red meat and dairy, thereby stabilizing markets and protecting consumers from price fluctuations.

Since its inception, the National Veal Project has injected more than 11.5 billion EGP in total funding. This has benefited approximately 46,416 small-scale breeders and graduates, resulting in the raising of over 543,710 head of livestock. To ensure project success, the ministry provides veterinary care, technical support, and livestock insurance through the Livestock Wealth Insurance Fund.
