Egypt Ministry of Agriculture reports 60% rice harvest completion

Egypt's Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation has announced that 60% of the rice crop has been harvested across several provinces, including Qalyubia, Gharbia, Beheira, Sharqia, Dakahlia, Kafr El-Sheikh, and Damietta.

As part of a national strategy to reduce air pollution and prevent the burning of rice straw, the ministry has successfully managed the collection and recycling of approximately 610,000 tons of straw. This initiative, coordinated with the ministries of local development and environment, aims to transform agricultural waste into an economic resource.

According to Minister Alaa Farouk, the recycling efforts have resulted in the production of 1,943 tons of non-traditional animal feed and organic fertilizers. To support this transition, the ministry provided farmers with modern machinery, such as presses and shredders, and conducted over 1,100 educational seminars to promote the economic and environmental benefits of straw recycling.
