Egypt Ministry of Education confirms 2027 school year start dates

The Egyptian Ministry of Education and Technical Education has confirmed that the 2027 academic year will begin as scheduled, denying rumors regarding the extension of holidays or the postponement of classes.

For government, private, and specialized schools, the start date is set for Saturday, September 12, 2026. International schools will begin their term earlier, on September 6, 2026. The academic year is expected to run until June 24, 2027, totaling 39 weeks of study.

To finalize preparations, Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif is scheduled to hold urgent meetings on August 16, 2026, with educational directors and school administrators across various governorates, including Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, and others. The meetings will focus on ensuring school maintenance is complete, textbooks are delivered on time, and strict adherence to educational discipline and assessment regulations.
