Egypt Ministry of Education sets tablet distribution rules
The Egyptian Ministry of Education and Technical Education has announced the specific categories of students and staff eligible to receive school tablets for the current academic year. The distribution targets first-year secondary school students in general education, as well as those in technical and technological education programs following the technological baccalaureate (both three-year and five-year systems).
Four specific groups of students are excluded from receiving the devices: private school students, home-schooling students, service-track students, and workers in technical education schools. The initiative also extends to certain educational staff, including subject supervisors, technological development center directors, and statistics department heads.
Minister of Education Mohamed Abdel Latif clarified that the tablets are considered personal custody for the duration of the student's secondary or technical education. If a device is returned—due to graduation, transfer, or retirement—it must be accompanied by a certificate from an authorized agent confirming the device and its components are in working order. Returned devices will be stored in educational administration warehouses following legal procedures.
