Egypt Ministry of Health announces seasonal flu vaccine availability

The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population has announced the availability of the seasonal influenza vaccine across all governorates. This initiative comes ahead of the winter season, which typically sees a peak in respiratory infections.

Dr. Amr Kandil, Deputy Minister of Health and Population, emphasized that annual vaccination is a fundamental pillar of the national prevention system. The vaccine is specifically recommended for high-risk groups, including seniors aged 65 and older, children, pregnant women, individuals with chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, or respiratory issues, immunocompromised individuals, healthcare workers, and travelers.

Ministry spokesperson Dr. Hossam Abdelghafar noted that the vaccine formula is updated annually to match expected circulating strains. The vaccine is currently available at non-routine vaccination offices affiliated with the Ministry throughout the country.
