Egypt Ministry of Health pursues digital transformation via tech partnerships
The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population is advancing its digital transformation strategy through partnerships with technology firms to modernize the national healthcare system.
In a meeting with Huawei representatives, Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar discussed implementing a ‘One Cloud’ model. This approach aims to transition from fragmented digital systems to a unified platform that integrates data, facilitates governance, and supports decision-making through big data and artificial intelligence. Current collaborative projects include ICT infrastructure in hospitals, medical imaging archiving (PACS), and digital pathology.
Additionally, ministry officials met with Vodafone Egypt and STM to discuss enhancing digital infrastructure and establishing a unified medical record for every patient. These efforts focus on automating medical, administrative, and financial procedures within hospitals to improve service efficiency and ensure data security through robust cybersecurity measures. These initiatives align with Egypt's Vision 2030 and the expansion of the Universal Health Insurance system.
