Egypt Ministry of Interior clarifies harassment claims at Mohamed Ramadan concert

Social media videos depicting chaos, stampedes, and alleged harassment at a concert by Egyptian singer Mohamed Ramadan on the North Coast have sparked widespread public debate. The footage showed overcrowding, fainting, and scenes of disorder, leading to criticism regarding the event's security and organization. During the performance, Ramadan paused his set to request assistance for an elderly woman in the crowd, having previously urged the audience to prioritize women's safety.

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior issued a clarification regarding viral claims that two young women were harassed during the event. According to the ministry, the two women, who are residents of Giza, reported to the El Alamein Police Station that the social media accounts were defamatory and did not reflect the truth. The women stated that the incident was caused by overcrowding rather than harassment. The ministry confirmed that legal measures have been taken regarding the matter.
