Egypt Ministry of Social Solidarity reunites homeless elderly man with family

The Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity’s rapid intervention team has successfully facilitated the reunification of an elderly man with his family after he was found living on the street in Qalyubia.

Following social media reports of an elderly man sleeping on the sidewalk near the Faculty of Agriculture metro station, the ministry’s team conducted a field study. The man, a retired worker and divorcee, reported that he had been evicted from his apartment in Imbaba by his four children. Initially, the team transferred him to a care home to provide necessary medical and social support.

After the details of his situation were publicized, the man's children identified him and contacted the intervention team. The family expressed their desire to take him back and provide proper care. After confirming the man's consent and ensuring the family was prepared to meet his needs, the ministry coordinated his safe return to his family.
