Egypt Ministry of Supply expands price reduction initiative

Egypt's Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Sherif Farouk, has ordered an increase in the supply of high-demand goods to ensure market stability. Key items identified for intensified distribution include cheese, tomato paste, rice, jam, and tahini.

During a meeting of the operations room monitoring the commodity price reduction initiative, it was announced that the Lulu Market chain has officially joined the initiative to offer discounted goods. The committee is also reviewing applications from other commercial chains, with the goal of finalizing their participation by the end of September to expand the initiative's reach.

Additionally, plans were approved to establish the first permanent market in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate. This project, a collaboration between the Internal Trade Development Authority and the Holding Company for Food Industries, aims to provide a continuous supply of food, vegetables, fruits, and clothing while reducing intermediary costs to maintain affordable prices for citizens.
