Egypt Ministry of Supply to launch digital ‘Inspector Card’ for market oversight

Egypt's Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade is launching the ‘Inspector Card’ system on September 1 to enhance market oversight and commodity trading controls. The initiative follows directives from President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to tighten regulation and address market irregularities.

Minister Sherif Farouk stated that the ministry is developing an integrated oversight system that combines field presence with modern digital tools, data analysis, and artificial intelligence. The goal is to transition from traditional reactive monitoring to a proactive system capable of early warning and rapid intervention.

Developed in cooperation with the Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center, the new digital toolkit includes the ‘Inspector Card’, the ‘Price Radar’ application, and a price monitoring system. These tools aim to ensure the availability of essential goods and monitor actual market prices to protect consumers from violations.
