Egypt mobile phone market strained by rising prices and possible Apple price hikes

Mobile phone retailers in Egypt warn that the market can no longer absorb further price increases. Industry officials say Apple’s recent decision to raise device prices in several regions, including Japan, could soon be reflected in Egyptian prices as global production and shipping costs continue to rise.

Component shortages, especially of DDR RAM chips, and higher freight costs have already driven up prices for low‑ and mid‑range phones, pushing many affordable models toward disappearance. Retailers argue they bear consumer anger despite having no control over manufacturers’ price lists, and fear that continued pressure could force distributors and shops to exit the market.
