Egypt moves Armed Forces Day holiday to October 8, 2026

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has announced that Thursday, October 8, 2026, will be an official paid holiday for government employees, public sector workers, and local administration units. This decision moves the Armed Forces Day holiday from its original date of Tuesday, October 6, to Thursday to allow for a continuous break alongside the weekend.

This holiday marks the final official paid day off for the remainder of 2026. While the government sector's schedule is confirmed, workers in the private sector are awaiting a similar directive from the Ministry of Labor to unify the holiday schedule across both sectors.
