Egypt MP proposes National AI and Freelancing Fund

Amal Abdel Hamid, a member of the Egyptian House of Representatives' Plan and Budget Committee, has proposed the establishment of a ‘National Fund for Artificial Intelligence and Freelancing.’ The initiative, intended to be supervised by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, aims to transform the digital skills of Egyptian youth into productive capacities capable of exporting services to global markets and generating foreign currency.

Abdel Hamid emphasized that the challenge for Egypt is no longer just providing training, but ensuring that skills in programming, data analysis, digital marketing, and AI are effectively monetized through international platforms. She suggested the fund should act as an integrated system that identifies global skill demands, provides certified training, and assists youth in securing their first paid international projects.

The proposal includes a specific track for remote work to enable women and youth in various governorates to access international markets without geographic constraints. Success for the fund would be measured by the volume of foreign currency revenue generated and the number of successful international projects secured, rather than simply the number of trainees.
